DRAVITE Halo Pendant

I am excited ! I have been commissioned by MV to work on this beautifully cut Dravite (of the Tourmaline family) stone. The stone is cut to the shape of "Oragami Star" .. very clean, crisp facets. It's going to be a haloed pendant and the details are finalised. The surprise is in the color of the stones we are going to use. So Ladies .. stay tuned :)

There are 3 other very interesting ring projects lined up with MV.

CABOCHONAY Anyone?

Very Contemporary .. very chic .. very clean ~ this is what I would describeCABOCHONAY, a 4 prong SOLITAIRE ring that hugs close the Cabochon natural gem. The size of the gems is ~10mm large and is at least 8 carats and above. There is the vivid purple amethyst, strong orange citrine, milky blue and translucent blue topaz, colors of the rainbow to tempt you :) The gemstone in the ring is a moonstone. Paving the prongs may not be such a bad idea :)

I LOVE it! It came this afternoon, and then I waited til DH came home from work to open it with him. We were both very pleased. I cannot tell you how long I have wanted a ring like this. I've actually bought 2 that were similar, but not quite there.

Also, we really liked the little box and flower pouch. So sweet :)

We're taking it to the jewelers tomorrow night to have my diamond put in. I'll just hold onto this lovely cz for possible use in the future.

4.38 ct Pink Tourmaline

4.38 ct Pink Tourmaline

This gotta be the prettiest pink tourmaline I have seen. Weighing 4.38 carats, this tourmaline measures a good 10.84mm and is completely eye clean. The cut is a 'fancy cut cornered Barion Octagon'. The color is really something else ;) ... a very nice saturated medium tinted pink. I have not seen it in sunlight; it had been a really cloudy today but according to the gemcutter, it shows some interesting lavendar colors in sunlight. Hopefully we will have sunny morning tomorrow and then I will get busy. Excellent brilliance with yummy flashes of a spectral colors.

I have not yet decided what I want to do with this but I am thinking of a ring with halo filigree. The contrast of the medium pink against the brilliant white of FG diamond melees .. will be bring out the color of the tourmaline very nicely. Any more ideas?
